Marrakesh, Morocco

2019

“My trip to Morocco in 2019 was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. All my senses were heightened in a sensory overload of sound, colour and atmosphere.

With a very light drawing kit, I was immersed in expressing myself and recording my experience through sketching. Words seemed not enough to convey what I saw and felt. A gifted Majorelle blue pigment rock by a stall-holder was used in some of my sketches.

I became part of this unique spirit; every mark placed on paper a reflection of the rhythmic beat of the music and midnight prayers echoing throughout the town. Even the flocks of birds flying high above the Moroccan sky joined in, like an archer’s arrow darting across the air.

I lived it wholeheartedly and felt the beat vibrating in my body, my skin covered in goosebumps reflecting my emotions. The tall white walls of the Riad offered me a welcome peace and calm from the hectic life outside. A little oasis to calm the senses.”

Copenhagen, Denmark

2022

“It’s my second time visiting the beautiful city of Copenhagen and it won’t be my last time. The tranquil hygge approach to living is woven through the Danish way of life. The friendly laid-back people, coffee houses which offer a warm experience with their carful considered interior design, the opulent architecture of white buildings with golden decorated details and many parks which offer a peaceful place to rest, has left a lasting impression. On foot, with a very light drawing bag, my friend and I mainly explored the city but I took little opportunities to sketch either sitting in a coffee shop or on a park bench.”
